December Message from the Board of Directors

River Arts has had an exceptional year of growth.  A record number of new members have joined, art sales have been solid, the new location has been a boost for walk in traffic and the exhibitions have been outstanding.  The River Room is completely booked for 2021 with individual artists whose work will enhance the schedule of regular shows in the main gallery.  In a year of huge uncertainty, River Arts has been a bright spot due to the enthusiasm of our artists, patrons and volunteer staff.  Thank you to everyone who has participated in this success.

With the recent surge of covid in Maine, River Arts’ board of directors has made the decision to temporarily close the gallery until the pandemic returns to a safer situation.  We will keep everyone informed as we move forward.  For now, the gallery will close at the end of business on December 24 and for the month of January.  The scheduled “Black and White” show will be canceled.

We plan to leave the Holiday show intact during the temporary break so that when we re-open there will be works in the gallery for sale.  However, artists who have work in the Holiday show may pick up before we close for the break, if they prefer.

The Holiday Shop has been a wonderfully delightful show with hundreds of works still for sale.  Artists have been replenishing the supply as artwork has sold and there continues to be a wide selection of fine art available at or below $100.  If you are in downtown Damariscotta this week, stop in and check out this show.
