With Chris Augusta and David Peloquin
Tuesday, March 24 at 2:00 pm

Join us this Tuesday afternoon at River Arts to meet Chris Augusta, juror of the current exhibition Light, along with David Peloquin, for an engaging talk and discussion titled Light as Revelation. Together, they will explore how our ability to apprehend relationships of light and dark can leads to an increased sense of ourselves, not as renderer, but as participant.
Following an introduction, attendees will be invited into an open discussion on the theme of light in art and art-making, including personal experiences of light as inspiration within the creative process.
Augusta will open the conversation with the central theme, Light as Revelation. Peloquin will follow with a short talk on light, radiance, and symbolism throughout art history.
Chris Augusta is a classically trained artist focusing on the importance of close observation of nature. His artwork has always been his primary focus and he believes it has helped him ground his readings in literature and philosophy. He has worked as a field biologist and is particularly interested in the relationship of art and science, how they became divided and how they can be reunited.
David Peloquin is a lifelong artist, drawing instructor, professional musician, and meditation teacher. A recording artist and published poet, he has performed nationally, including an appearance with his group Compass Rose at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
River Arts is located at 36 Elm Street in Damariscotta. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
